The Eagles haven’t been looking so good these past few weeks. On December 3rd, 2023, the Eagles embarrassingly lost to the 49ers, scoring 42-19. On December 10th, 2023, the Eagles lost to their hated rival, the Cowboys, in another embarrassing way, scoring 13-33. Finally, on December 18th, 2023, the Eagles barely lost to the Seahawks with a score of 17-20. Fans were quickly infuriated and annoyed by how poorly the team was doing. Even though the team currently had 10 wins and 4 losses, many people were angry at the offensive and defensive coordinators, Brian Johnson and Sean Desai.
However, on Christmas 2023, the Eagles beat the Giants with a score of 25-33. While the Eagles have beaten the Giants right now, this win was just a mere boost to the fans. Lots of people are annoyed about the losing streak the team had, so this win was a way to relieve the fans for a little bit. They know the Giants aren’t as tough as the 49ers, Chiefs, Bills, etc. However, it’s important to note the many mistakes the Eagles made during the game, and these mistakes must be fixed, or else it may cost them in the playoffs that’s slowly creeping up. But let’s discuss this game.

The Eagles started very well. Now that Sean Desai has been demoted, many fans are quite thrilled to see what Matt Patricia has in stock for the Eagles’ defense. In the first quarter, the Eagles managed to hold off the Giants and as a result, the defense made it very tough for the Giants to score a touchdown. The Eagles ended up getting a touchdown by Jalen Hurts and his popular “Tush Push” also known as the “Brotherly Shove.” The field goal by Jake Elliot was good, and the Eagles continued with the game. Later on, the Giants made a field goal, making the score 3-7 by the end of the first quarter.

By the second quarter, the Eagles started the game with a field goal that was good by Jake Elliot, giving the Eagles three more points. After that, not much happened for a little bit until Devonta Smith made a 36-yard touchdown thrown by Jalen Hurts. Jake Elliot made the kick and it was good, so by then the Eagles were 3-17. Minutes passed, and once again, nothing much occurred, until the last few seconds of the 2nd quarter. The Eagles managed to get into position for a field goal. Jake Elliot made the kick, and he scored three more points for the Eagles. The score was now 3-20, and things were looking fabulous for the Eagles and pretty bad for the Giants.

But, during the third quarter, this is where things began to go way downhill for the Eagles. After 2 minutes of the third quarter, Saquon Barkley made a seven-yard touchdown for the Giants, and their field goal that was kicked by Mason Crosby was good, making the score 10-20. It wasn’t too much of an issue at the time, and many fans weren’t too worried either. This was until the last ten seconds of the game when the Eagles had their ball intercepted, and as a result, Adoree’ Jackson was able to make a 76 interception return, scoring a touchdown for the Giants. After that, the Giants attempted to make a 2-point rush, and unfortunately, Saquon Barkley was successful. The Eagles were unable to score any points during the third quarter, therefore, the Giants were now 18-20. Due to this, many people online were starting to become furious once again.

Thankfully, during the fourth quarter, the Eagles were able to score a few points which determined the win. After four stressful minutes from the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Eagles were slowly encroaching closer to the goal line, and after a little bit, D’Andre Swift made a five-yard touchdown for the Eagles, and a successful field goal was made. The score was now 18-27.
Fans felt very relieved, as this meant that even if the Giants made a touchdown and made a field goal or 2-point rush, it still wouldn’t be enough to beat the Eagles. All the Eagles had to do was to not screw it up. With six minutes left of the game, Jake Elliot struck back again with another successful field goal that boosted the score to 18-30. However, shortly after that field goal, Darius Slayton from the Giants (Don’t get confused with him and Darius Slay! They are both two completely different people) made a sixty-nine-yard pass from Tyrod Taylor, and a field goal was made, making the score now 25-30. Now, things were very nail-biting. After four grueling minutes, nothing had happened, until the final seventy seconds of the game. Eagles once again got into position for a field goal, and Jake Elliot made a forty-three-yard field goal. The score was now 25-33, and the Giants were unable to score any more points which declared the Eagles the victors of the game! It was really a Christmas miracle.

While the Eagles did win, according to the stats, we can see that the Eagles did a lot more than the Giants. They had more rushing and passing yards, more total yards, and more yards per play. This should have been a breeze for the Eagles, but unfortunately, the flags thrown during the game held them back a lot. A total of nine penalties were toward the Eagles, which cost sixty-five yards for the team. Popular YouTube channel “Eagles Now by Chat Sports” stated in his live stream during the game, “It’s almost impossible for the Eagles to just have good vibes for a whole 60-minute game.” and “Eagles are just an undisciplined, sloppy, poorly coached football team.” Many people can agree with this statement.
For the past month, the Eagles have not played like who they are. The Eagles played way better last year than they did this year. The team is making too many dumb mistakes, and as a result, it is costing them. Nick Sirianni, head coach of the Eagles, needs to make sure that these players don’t keep making mistakes or else they might not be able to beat stronger teams in the future. Brian Johnson remains in hot water, even after the game. Many people are worried and are already admitting defeat for the future, as they know that the Eagles will probably not even advance in the playoffs. But once again, the fans must keep their heads high. So to all Eagles fans, stay positive, and even during terrible moments, remember that things will eventually get better sooner or later!
