On February 19th, Cherry Hill West hosted a cotillion dance for Sophomores at Haddon Fortnightly. The place was decorated with golden balloons, confetti, and golden decorations as the theme for this cotillion was golden hour. There were stations for beverages and gourmet meals as well as desserts.
Many sophomores had attended the cotillion, but many hadn’t. Many chose not to come to the cotillion as the tickets were expensive, or they had a lack of interest in attending. The cotillion tickets were sold for $50 outside of the cafeteria for a few weeks. At first, the rate of ticket sales was a bit slow, but by the last two days of ticket sales, many students bought tickets. At the cotillion, there were over 100 students who had attended.
At the event, many didn’t go on theme, although there were a couple that incorporated a bit of the theme into their outfits. Some decided to wear gold jewelry to match the golden hour theme. There were yellow glasses as well as blue ones offered at the cotillion to add to the look and for fun if you wanted. There were a multitude of colors, but the most common color was black. Many of the guys wore black suits with a boutonniere. As for the girls, the lengths of their dresses varied, as some had short dresses and others had longer dresses.
As the night went on, the DJ played different types of music, including R&B, pop, and reggaeton. Many people danced to the songs, creating a dance circle and vibing with friends in their group. Everyone had their own groups at night to spend time with their friends. The DJ was taking requests as the night went on for song recommendations. While the music was playing, many people went to get food and desserts like cookies, a cake, salad, pasta, chicken fingers, fries, cheese fries, cheesesteak, and many more options. Some people described the food as alright, while others enjoyed it.
As the night was coming to a close, more songs were requested, and many people who were sitting with their groups came to dance to the last couple of songs. Near the end, they played Golden, from K-pop Demon Hunters. Overall, many people enjoyed the night and even the teachers at the event.
