East West Football Rivalry

East+West+Football+Rivalry

The Lion’s will be hosting East for Cherry Hill’s annual Thanksgiving game on Wednesday, November 22 at 6 pm. The match up may be a little closer than usual, as both teams are entering with an 0-9 record.

The Lion’s finished the 2017 regular season to a tune of disappointment. After last year’s record breaking season, West expected at the least to once again claim a playoff spot. However, they had gone on to not record a single win. This year’s team was outscored by opponents 132 points to 281, and when compared to last year’s 288-183, it is evident that the offense and defense alike have experienced a significant drop in performance.

Due to their unsatisfactory record this year, the East-West game may mean even more than it normally does to the Lions’ football team. East, on the other hand, is no stranger to this game being the most meaningful of the season, and has not put together a winning season since 2011. The Cougars have not won a single football game since defeating Northern Burlington 21-20 on September 19th, of 2015. East once again could not compete with their stacked group five schedule, and were outscored 73-356, allowing an average of forty points per game.

With both teams searching for their first, and only, win of the season, this year’s annual East versus West Thanksgiving football game may shape up to be a close, competitive, and memorable match up.
