Following the Eagles’ unforgettable 2022-2023 season, many fans have been predicting the retirement of center Jason Kelce, as he will be turning 36 this upcoming November. The average football player’s retirement age is 35 years old .Therefore, Kelce would exceed it this upcoming season. The Birds’ astonishing record throughout the NFL season, as well as their playoff success and Super Bowl appearance, left fans with nothing but pride in Kelce’s commitment and skill to the team. He has served as a key player on the Eagles roster since 2011, and the team’s achievement this season would be an almost perfect route to retire.

However,–shocking fans–Kelce announced on March 13th that he will be returning to the Eagles for another year on a one-year contract. After taking a loss in Superbowl LVI of 2023 to his brother, Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, he stated, “I’m not done”. Rage and excitement has roared throughout the nation over this decision, and fans are eager to see whether or not the Birds will make it to the Superbowl yet again for the 2023-2024 season now that his key position on the team remains.

With that being said, several Eagles players have announced their transfer to other teams within the NFL. Many key players, who helped contribute to the Eagles successful record, are leaving, including defensive lineman Javon Hargrave, offensive tackle Andre Dillard, safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson, linebackers T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White, offensive lineman Isaac Seumalo and safety Marcus Epps. Additionally, running back Miles Sanders, will not be returning. The Eagles have replaced his position with Rashaad Penny from the Seattle Seahawks and the resignation of Boston Scott. The Eagles also signed quarterback Marcus Mariota, safety Terell Edmunds, and re-signed cornerback James Bradberry. Sanders sadly declared his absence with, “To the city of Philadelphia, thank you from the bottom of my heart”.

Although the skillful players who contributed to the Birds’ achievements this season will not be returning, fans continue to hope that the team’s connection stays intact. This is especially true with Kelce and quarterback Jalen Hurts remaining vital parts of the team’s roster. With a strong bond and work ethic amongst all players, the Eagles are sure to succeed this upcoming season.
