On Sunday, Jun 1, 2025, a group of students and their families gathered at Christ Our Light’s Parish Center for the third annual newspaper banquet. The event was started by Megan Pitt, former Editor-in-Chief, in 2023. The banquet has continued to be a fun way to celebrate graduating seniors and the newspaper staff’s accomplishments each year.

Graduating seniors on the Lion’s Roar staff include Ioannis Kyriakou, Calvin Lymper, Jason Melroy, Elle Trinidad, and Danica Ward. Lymper, Melroy, and Ward plan to study Communications/Journalism, while Kyriakou and Trinidad will study Political Science.
Calvin Lymper, outgoing Editor-in-Chief, offered remarks about his time as part of the Lion’s Roar. Lymper has been a staff writer since his freshman year, leading this year’s staff of dedicated writers and photographers.
Along with sharing a bit about his journey since writing his first story for the paper, a 60-year retrospective of West’s history, Lymper offered thoughts about the impact being part of the publication has meant to him.
“I feel as if this club has allowed me to grow more confident, empowered, and strong…It allowed me to find my niche, and now I’ll be attending Clemson in the fall for just that, my interest in sports defined through writing and watching,” Lymper stated.
The Spring 2025 issue and the 2025 Senior Issue will go to print soon and be available for readers by mid-June.
