This year, Cherry Hill West’s Multicultural Day was an epic celebration that every student will remember! On April 11th, our school transformed into a creative set of cultures. They showed the unique traditions, foods, and performances from around the world.
The hallway outside the auditorium was the center as students set up booths representing various countries. Each booth offered a taste of different cultures with delicious foods, traditional clothing, and fun facts. Multicultural Day is also a learning opportunity because students have the chance to learn about and experience cultures from around the globe, such as Asian, African, and Arab Culture Clubs, and the extreme culture and diversity. It was so cool to see so many classmates proudly representing their heritage and sharing what makes their backgrounds special.
The highlight of the day was the talent show, where students performed traditional dances, songs, and events from various cultures. Our classmates showcased everything from Chinese fan dancing to African drumming, highlighting practices from several cultures. But we didn’t get here overnight. The members of all of these clubs had to practice long and hard for several weeks in order to successfully pull this off.
The energy in the auditorium was full of pride, and several students in the audience even joined in the dancing, and you could feel the pride from everyone involved. Multicultural Day wasn’t just a school event; it was a fantastic reminder of how rich and diverse our Cherry Hill West community is, and it left us all with a greater appreciation for each other’s backgrounds.
