Football Season is Here!

Our Lions opened the season on Friday, September 11 at Triton High School. West has had this game circled on their calendar following their 20-19 loss to Triton last fall. West came out with a lot of enthusiasm, yet they were also very focused. Quincy Jenkins led the Lions defense in the first quarter with a big hit, causing Triton’s running back to fumble. West recovered the fumble, which led to a touchdown run by Lion’s quarterback Nick Alberto. After 12 minutes of play the Lions led 7-0. The defense domination continued through the second quarter as they shut down the Triton offense. The only points Triton was able to scrap up were on a safety. In second quarter, West tacked on another touchdown, leading Triton 13-2 going into halftime. Coming out of the locker room the Lions were no where near satisfied, as they scored another touchdown on their opening drive, now leading 19-2. Triton, beginning to scramble, continued to have no answer for West’s hard hitting defenders. After three quarters of play, the score was West 19, Triton 2. The fourth quarter consisted of another touchdown for the Lions, extending their lead to 25. They then drained the clock using their running game behind star running Henry Ensley. As the clock hit zero, cheers came from both the crowd and the bench, celebrating victory. The Lions won 27-2. Both the coaches and the players explained that they felt there was a different attitude all summer. All their hard work and dedication was showcased on the field that night. Be sure to come out and support Cherry Hill West’s football team every Friday night.
